Dear All,
Advent greetings from the Lambeth and Southwark Hub. It's been a busy term for Sally, Ruth and I.
Once the plaster came off my ankle, I have very quickly been able to get back into schools and since half term I have been visiting an average of 5-6 schools per week where I do assemblies and RE lessons. The ‘It's Jesus’ assemblies have gone well, and the games have been particularly enjoyed. It is such fun meeting all the children and their teachers. I feel really blessed to do such a creative job and having the opportunity to teach children what Christians believe about Jesus. Children love to get involved in the many activities we offer, whether it be guessing what’s inside the present, dressing up, throwing scrunched up paper balls into a basket or making sheep puppets out of paper plates.
"Spinnaker is great! I wish we could have Spinnaker every week!" - Year 3, Lambeth School
"I really like the worships. We get to dress up. I like watching drama as it brings to worship to life." - Year 3, Lambeth School
Sally has done many workshops this term, planting cress for Harvest and making Christingles for Christmas. See the picture of Mike and the giant (below), model Christingle which Sally uses to teach the session. Sally is also in 9 schools where she does a variety of assemblies, RE lessons and Faith clubs. Ruth visits schools regularly where she does Collective worship.
"Year 4 enjoyed their workshop on Christmas and creating Christingles" - Tweet from a teacher at a Lambeth School
"We learn a lot from Heather in worship. We are basically learning to be good people and we are learning to make the world a better place through faith, hope and love" - Year 4, Lambeth School
Please give thanks for office and storage space kindly donated by St Stephen's Church which has been a real blessing. Please pray for a good, restful break for us all, schools-work is exciting and creative, but we need to re-charge our batteries for the new term ahead. Please pray for volunteers, who would be able to come into school to help us to expand the work we are doing, enabling us to visit more schools.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and a blessed new year.
From Heather & the Team
