Dear All,
It’s been another busy term for the Spinnaker team in Orpington – Katie, Jo, Barbara and myself. We have visited eleven schools between us, most fortnightly, delivering collective worship or lessons.
Our main focus this term has been sharing our new series of collective worships, ‘It’s Jesus!’ These assembly resources tell children about different episodes and teachings from Jesus’ life, through story, games and reflection. We want to tell children about Jesus, show how we can learn from Him and how he is relevant in their lives. We visit many community schools (as opposed to church schools) so believe it’s really important to share Jesus with them, as they might not hear about him elsewhere. The collective worships are accompanied by original illustrations by Sarah Horne, which the children love; they are so bright and colourful and encapsulate the story or theme brilliantly. You can see them on the Resources page of the Spinnaker website.
In December, Katie, Barbara and I will be welcoming a school visiting Green Street Green Baptist Church, showing them around the building, explaining what makes a church and what happens in a church, and I will be involved in Crofton Infants Y1’s Christmas service at Crofton Baptist Church. I was also invited to lead Harvest collective worship at Crofton Infant and Junior Schools and Blenheim Primary in October and to talk about being a Christian to Year 1 in Gray’s Farm Academy.
We would love to share ‘It’s Jesus’ with more schools in the area; please pray for more doors to open for collective worship or lessons. Please also pray for the team as we visit our current schools and the writing team who are busy developing next term’s collective worships.
We hope you have a lovely Christmas and thank you for your support.
From Caroline & the Orpington Team
